Christmas Weddings at The Camellia

Cupcakes are so popular now. They are a great alternative to a traditional Wedding Cake.

Peonies look lovely in Wedding Bouquets, these were from my Summer Garden.

By The Lake...Lake Superior

Lake Superior...Water, water, water, as far as the eye can see. Many people dream of getting married on the beach, and near the water. Our Bride, Ashley, is planning a ceremony at Park Point, Duluth, MN. She came into The Camellia to get some decorating ideas, keeping in mind the venue and the By the Lake theme.

Here's a sneak peek at what we came up with for this Lakeside Wedding which will take place in August. Picture a pale blue, with a hint of turquoise, paired with a rich, chocolate brown, blended with the cream of beach sand, and mixed with the greys of Lake Superior rocks.

Starfish are so appropriate for a Lakeside Wedding, and are a wonderful cream colour.

You can make personalised labels with names and dates. Use ribbons in the colour palette of pale blue and chocolate brown to tie around the Starfish. So simple!

I suggested jute Table Runners, in keeping with the Lakeside theme, adding a rustic touch to the table decor.

The Bride bought votive holders from the Camellia. Votives are covered in sisal and edged with tiny seashells and will add a nice glow to the tables as dusk falls.

Idea for Table centers: use tall glass vases, fill with Lake Superior pebbles, then layer with larger, round rocks. In keeping with the 'By the Lake' theme, use tall ferns, Bear grass, or other grasses. Skinny pieces of driftwood can also be added to the vases. Tie vases with pale blue and chocolate brown satin ribbons. Scatter seashells around the base of the vase.

The Bride decided on a Faux Botanical Bouquet, she wanted to have something to keep after the big day was over. Faux Botanicals are perfect for Destination Weddings , where everyone is travelling to a specific location. You can cross Flowers off your list, one less thing to worry about.

A close-up of the bouquet, composed of Faux David Austen roses, ranunculus, eucalyptus, astilbe and berries.

A perfect Lakeside Wedding, inspired by Lake Superior, created together with the bridal couple and The Camellia.

Thinking about Wedding Favors? The couple plan to collect rocks like this one, that have been perfectly shaped by the waters of Lake Superior. The rock can be placed in a blue Gift box, with a Thank You saying, specially chosen by the couple. We offer various personalised wedding favours at The Camellia, such as Wall plaques, Lavender & herbal sachets, Tea blends, Fishing Hooks, monogrammed linens , chocolates, and so on. Our fav. Gift box is an upscale version of a Chinese take-out box. At the moment, we stock boxes in lime green, & Navy blue.
